Attached tag reads "Tambanan Village", Papua New Guinea". Likely correct spelling is Tambuan aka Dukduk. These masks, used by men's secret societies even now, represent the spirit world and connect the people to their culture and ancestors. This is a long nose spirit mask, not meant to wear but to hang. Additional names for this are a "cult figure" mask or an ancestor mask. Great wood carving, smooth to the touch. Hand carved using native wood. There is a small nick on the lower left edge. This appears to be a bird mask. This is 17 inches tall, about 6.5 inches wide and about 3-4 inches in depth.
