Caroline Burnett was a prolific American painter known for her Paris street scenes. Her birth and death dates are usually listed as 1890-1970. She is a listed artist, often imitated, often copied, often the subject of discussion. Many of her works are listed as "authentic", but Burnett paintings can be found all over the world and wildly range in price from under $20 to thousands of dollars. However, Burnett paintings are collectible and not without their admirers. Bright, bold colors, excellent palette knife work. This particular piece is Montmarte with Sacre Coeur in the background. If you purchase this painting, do so because you like it, like the colors, like street scenes of Paris--and not because you think you are buying a great painting on the cheap--that might be true, but probably not.
In the frame, this piece measures 9.5 inches wide and 7.5 inches tall. Burnett signed in lower left. (Some have said that Burnett only signed in the right corner, but one can find several examples signed in the left corner.) Wooden frame in excellent condition--marked made in Mexico, which is not unusual for these. In the frame, this measures about 14.5 inches tall and 17 inches wide. This piece weighs 2 pounds, 13 ounces.
