This bowl, made in Germany in the early twentieth century, is more for art than for serving. Not exactly the kind of bowl you would put the fruit salad in at Thanksgiving. Hand painted, wonderful gold accents blended with floral rose motif. Circles around the inside of the bowl are little portraits that continue the flower and leaf pattern. Condition issue: this bowl was once professionally repaired; there is about a two-inch part of the rim that doesn't shine like the rest of the gold rim. When you turn the bowl over, you can see putty was applied at the spot. This can only be noticed upon close inspection. Bowl is about 10 inches across and measures 3 inches high. Obviously, this bowl was a family treasure and displayed prominently. It's an excellent "shiner". This bowl weighs 1 pound, 5 ounces.
